Though they're referred to as oils, they're actually not oily at all; they're a liquid, usually clear, though some do have a slight amber or yellow color. Aromatherapy treatments use these oils to relieve a number of common ailments, and because the oils are highly concentrated, a little bit goes a long way.

Pure Essential Oils act upon the olfactory senses (our sense of smell) sending direct messages to the brain. The different aromas have the ability to produce changes in our emotions. They can also aid in healing of wounds, burns, bacterial and fungal infections through topical application.

Here at Hallelujah Hive we use top quality therapeutic grade essential oils. Synthetic (manmade) fragrances do not have the same aromatherapy properties as essential oils and may contain harmful chemicals. Our essential oils are sold in 5 ml and 10 ml amber glass bottles with a built in dropper.

Most essential oils need to be diluted with a carrier of some kind since they can be very irritating to the skin full strength due to their concentrated form. This carrier can be organic vegetable oil, hydrosol, witch hazel extract, or alcohol. Never use essential oils internally without direction from your holistic doctor.

As a guideline for diluting essential oils in a carrier: 5-6 drops per ounce of carrier is appropriate for preparations such as massage, where a lot of product is being used on the skin. 10-12 drops per ounce of carrier is appropriate for aromatherapy applications and

body care recipes.

Lavender - Today, lavender is the most used essential oil in the world. Some benefits from lavender for your body are : reduces anxiety and emotional stress, heals burns and wounds, improves sleep, restores skin complexion and reduces acne, improves eczema and psoriasis and alleviates headaches.

Tea Tree - Tea tree has so many anti-viral and anti-fungal benefits that the Australian army puts it in soldiers' first aid kits. It is known to help as a pain reliever, treating lice, lowers blood pressure, helpful for infections including vaginitis, sinusitis, cystitis. Tea tree oil can also benefit the following skin conditions: ring worm and athlete's foot, softens corns, cuts and scrapes, itching of insect bites and chicken pox, warts, acne, and dandruff.

Peppermint - The health benefits of peppermint oil include its ability to treat indigestion, respiratory problems, headache, nausea, fever, stomach and bowel spasms, as well as for pain relief. Beneficial in repelling ants, mosquitoes and even mice.

Eucalyptus - Eucalyptus is one of the oldest native medicines used in Australia. The scent is fresh, penetrating, woody, and camphoraceous. It is known for its use in inhalants and vapor rubs, for sore muscles and as a household disinfectant and cleaner.

Frankincense - has a woodsy, warm, balsamic aroma. Frankincense has been used for centuries for both its spiritual and its medicinal properties, it brings calm and peace to body, soul and spirit. This precious oil was one of the gifts the wise men brought to the young Jesus our Messiah after His birth, signifying its value. Many enjoy using Frankincense during meditation and prayer. It is extremely beneficial as an anti-aging treatment for dry, mature or wrinkled skin. Also lessens the appearance of scarring.

Patchouli - The fragrance of Patchouli is rich, earthy and grounding. Unlike most essential oils that diminish in quality over time, patchouli essential oil improves with age like a fine wine. Traditionally, many a home used this plant to keep insects out of their closets. It is also a well known aphrodisiac. Emotionally it is uplifting and calming. Skin benefits include treating eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, sores, cuts and wounds.

Orange - With its versatility, affordability and wonderfully uplifting aroma, Orange Oil is one of the most popular of essential oils within aromatherapy and a winner with children and adults alike.. The aroma is cheerful and helps to improve the aroma of a stale-smelling room. Many natural household cleaning products use this oil. As with all citrus oils, do not apply on skin before going out in the sun for 12 hours to avoid skin sensitivity to sun burn.

Rosemary - Known for its rejuvenating effects, rosemary can help relieve headaches, boost your memory, alleviate stress, and for scalp to treat dandruff and stimulate and strengthen hair growth. A great ingredient in natural vapor rubs, bringing respiratory healing. Pregnant and nursing mothers should avoid this oil as it may cause spasms.
